Mandy Coppes-Martin introduces the age old technique of paper-making by hand. In this hands-on one day workshop Mandy will introduce you to hand-beating a locally sourced fibre called Milkweed. Milkweed fibre is similar to the Japanese Kozo fibre used for Eastern Style Paper-making methods. Participants will learn how to steam, beat, and cast sheets of pure milkweed paper. Along with the practical workshop Mandy has several paper samples and presentations of how paper and pulp can be manipulated and used in order to create visual art. All materials will be supplied and all levels including beginners are welcome.
