ADVANCED CYANOTYPE WORKSHOP
This workshop serves as an extension to APW’s foundational Cyanotype Workshop. Although Sir Herschel’s process is, in essence, a simplistic photographic process, many creative and advanced possibilities exist. Cyanotype can be applied to a multitude of paper surfaces each with their own intrinsic and unique qualities, and a variety of colours can be achieved by tannin toning.
In this advanced workshop, participants will explore contrast and tonal control, print on a variety of papers, experiment with different toners, and produce a print with Mike Ware’s New Cyanotype formula. This is a practical and labour-intensive workshop and we can only accept a maximum of 6 participants. Prior experience to the Cyanotype process is a requisite. 3 x different Cyanotype images will be produced during this workshop, printed onto a variety of papers. We thus need 3 x A4 digital images to be emailed to us a week prior to the workshop. As time is limited with many topics covered, participants are required to bring 5 x Cyanotype prints to this workshop for toning purposes. Participants are welcome to hire our workshop facilities to produce these prints in advance of the workshop.
It is possible to accommodate smaller groups who wish to explore specific topics. Please contact us with your requirements.
